Huseyin Basusta's ancestors came from Rize, Ikizdere and Artvin Savsat and settled in sub district Hendek of Adapazari 150 years ago. He completed his primary and secondary education at Zonguldak, which is the city where he was born. He was graduated from Radio and Television Department of Marmara University School of Press & Publishing.

During his college years, he worked as a reporter at İstanbul Office of Izmir Ticaret Gazetesi (Izmir Trade Journal), which is one of the most important and first economics journals in Turkey, for four years starting from year 1970. None of the newspapers in Turkey had used to have a page devoted to economic affairs those days. He interviewed people active in small industrial enterprises, most of which are today's large holding companies in Turkey where the industry had been in development process recently at those times. Therefore, Basusta has witnessed the development in industry and commerce in our country (1970).

With encouragement by writer-journalist Cihat Baban, who served as the Minister of Culture in the Cabinet formed after the military intervention that took place on September 12th 1980, Huseyin Basusta's interviews and articles with economic social content had been published for two years as Meydan Mecmuasi (Meydan Magazine) of Meydan Larousse.
